Japanese customers stockpiling cigarettes prior to Oct 1st price rise of up to 140 yen per pack

"Demand for cigarettes has soared ahead of the scheduled tobacco tax hike on Oct. 1, and tobacco companies and convenience stores are trying to cash in as consumers stock up before prices rise...The price of most cigarette brands will be raised by 60 yen to 140 yen per 20-cigarette pack, the highest increase ever."
