Japan's trade with Australia has boomed since the 1970's according to research

" At the start of the 1950's, only 8 percent of Australia's exports went to Japan...By the beginning of the 1970's Japan and the rest of East Asia absorbed 26 percent and 12 percent of Australia's exports respectively"
