NTT & partners developed optic fiber 1000 times faster at one petabit per second

"Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corp ...and three others have jointly developed an optical fiber with 1,000 times the data transmission capacity of technology used in today's optical networks.The new fiber boasts a capacity of one petabit per second, or 1,000 terabits per second -- meaning that in one second it can send 5,000 high-definition videos, each two hours long, over a distance of 50km.
