Japanese drink makers have spent over 1 trillion yen in offshore acquistions since 2006

"Asahi, Sapporo and Kirin have spent more than Y 1 trillion ($12 billion) since 2006 on foreign adventures or more than half their combined operating cash flow over that period...The biggest reason for looking abroad is simple: Japan is a mature market"
