BOJ reveals Japanese companies sitting on 225 trillion yen cash deposits

"Flagship companies like Toyota Motor Corp .....and Panasonic Corp ......boosted their holdings of cash and deposits to a record ¥225 trillion at the end of March, up 5.8 % from a year ago,according to the data released on Wednesday. The money at hand also made up the largest part of their total financial assets, accounting for 26.7 % of the total......Awash with cash, firms see little need to borrow from banks.."
