"Japanese pedal pushers bought 170,000 bikes named after nine foreign car brands, according to GIC...the Japanese two-wheeler market is a big deal. This is one of the world's most bike-friendly nations, with 71.9 million cycles plying Japan's narrow streets—about one for every 1.5 people, according to the Japan Bicycle Promotion Institute. The country's transport ministry says 12.2% of the population commutes to work by bike."
