Japanese Customer: Japanese student numbers to Australia declining for the fifth straight year

Japanese students, a top ten source country for Australia's international education industry and the most profitable Asian student education market, have been decreasing over the past five years as seen in the numbers of visits to the "Study Australia" website.

What are some of the possible reasons for this decrease?

* Change in Japanese consumer travel destinations with a stronger focus on Asian countries

* Change in the exchange rate between Australia and Japan

* Change in the education market in Japan with many new competitors offering online courses and courses in English without the need to leave Japan.
