Japanese customers see top grade rice harvest drop to just 64% of harvest in 2010

"Top-grade rice accounts for just 64.4% of this year's harvest, down 18.6 percentage points from 2009 and the lowest level since comparable records were first kept in 1999, the Agriculture Ministry said Wednesday...
In the No. 1 rice-producing prefecture of Niigata, the proportion of top-grade rice plunged from 90.7% to 19.7%.
