"Japan’s population logged a record drop in 2012…A record low 1,033,000 babies were born last year, against 1,245,000 deaths, resulting in a net drop of 212,000 in the nation’s population of about 126 million.. Japan is rapidly greying, with more than 20% of the population aged 65 or over—one of the highest proportions of elderly people in the world."

"Japanese electronics giant Sony said it has stopped producing its PlayStation 2 consoles in Japan… Since launching in 2000 the PlayStation 2 (PS2), which has a Blu-ray player, has sold more than 150 million units worldwide, making it the best selling console of all time "

An ippan (regular) contract is simply an agreement that says the agency can represent the seller. "Department stores and supermarkets across Japan opened their doors Tuesday, offering bargains and thousands of “fukubukuro” (lucky bags)… Seibu department store in Tokyo’s Ikebukuro prepared 150,000 lucky bags and reported brisk sales in the morning. The most expensive item in the lucky bag was a cruise worth 100,000 yen. Some 20,000 people had entered the store by noon, "
