Starbucks Japan recently launched a new range of sandwiches based on Italian style Filone bread. (Japanese site)The three new sandwiches include, Beef Pastrami, Vegetable & Chicken and Ham & Maribo Cheese.

Launched on Monday 1st September the new sandwiches add to a growing number of food products. The new sandwich retails for 460 yen and in store sampling of the new product has commenced. A small slice of a sandwich is presented in a sample cup and explained by store staff to dine in customers.

Lets hope the new sandwich can turn around the share price and attract new customers.

Japanese Customers love food and so an extension to the existing food line up is a positive sign as it adds variety to the range of food available in store. Japanese customers traditionally like salt based products from existing products like soy sauce and senbe rice crackers. Sugar based products are slowly gaining favour with younger consumers.

The new sandwiches provide new choice for a wider range of customers particularly elderly customers who stop by at a store on their way travelling.
