Credit Card penetration rate in Japan estimated at only 20 percent, cash still rules

"Japan is still largely a cash economy. The card penetration rate is approximately 20%, which is one of the lower figures for a developed economy where almost everyone is fully banked. About 80% of consumer-to-business payments are made in cash"
